Scene: Ohio v Sowell (aka Cleveland Strangler)
Who: Honorable judge Shirley Strickland Saffold was the first trial judge.
Cameo: Who should portray her? Best casting/cameo would be none other than former first lady Michelle Obama. Two ivy league law degrees, the first African-American first-lady, and she is a well-respected public speaker.
What: The screenplay (Cleveland Strangler) allows for her to give a “self-prepared” dynamic short monologue. A poignant delivery before the trial begins, insisting that law enforcement give reported missing women of color and their sexual assault cases, more dignity, and respect as their counterparts. Caveat. There are no guarantees that this memorable scene-stealing “speech” won’t be pirated (plagiarized) by inspired third parties. But that’s okay. You’ve taught us well. “When they go low, we go high.”)
Next: Why the phenomenal Queen Latifah (Dana Owens) should portray the first of the 11-Women of Imperial Avenue, Crystal Dozier.
