Tribute to Icon Diahann Carroll
Legendary Diahann Carroll. Before Angela Bassett and Halle Berry, she was a trailblazer in the 60’s, and 70’s paving the way for future actresses of color. The epitome of elegance and grace, Ms. Carroll was also a singer, dancer and theater performer. She was the first black woman to win a Tony Award for Best Actress. Did you know she was the first African-American actress to star in her television series called Julia? Later she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for one of my favorite roles, Claudine.
To Ms. Carroll: These stellar achievements and more is why I dream cast you as Queen Mother, “Orchid Mandela.” In THRONE, you were an exclusive Royal Bather (mistress) to now retired King Jaffe Joffer. I hope this finds you in good health and this role appeals to you.
By the way, in defense of the throne, can you wield a Machete? 👑👵🎥
